Many               poker               fans               are               familiar               with               Mike               "The               Mouth"               Matusow               because               of               his               antics               at               the               poker               table,               his               unpredictable               behavior,               and               of               course               his               Mike               Meltdowns.

Mike               "The               Mouth"               is               the               type               of               poker               player               you               either               love               or               hate.

He               is               one               of               the               most               interesting,               controversial               players               in               the               game               today               and               it               doesn't               matter               if               you               love               him               or               hate               him,               he               is               a               great               poker               player.

He               has               won               several               high               profile               tournaments               and               has               two               World               Series               of               Poker               bracelets               to               his               name;               you               can't               dispute               his               talent               for               the               game               of               poker.

Mike               Matusow               got               his               start               in               poker               when               he               was               18               playing               video               poker               at               a               local               casino               in               Vegas,               he               played               so               often               it               caused               him               problems               with               his               shoulders               and               arms.

He               was               so               addicted               to               the               game               he               would               even               steal               money               from               his               mother               to               keep               playing,               and               attended               Gamblers               Anonymous               meetings.

He               learned               Texas               Hold'em               in               1989               as               the               protégé               of               a               rounder               named               Steve               Samaroff.

In               his               early               career               Matusow               did               well               winning               most               of               the               tournaments               he               entered               and               he               also               worked               as               a               poker               dealer               at               the               time.
               Mike               got               his               nickname               because               he               talks               a               lot               at               the               tables               and               often               times               it               isn't               in               a               friendly               manner.

Mike               is               known               for               yelling,               swearing,               and               blowing               up               at               the               tables.

He               has               received               a               lot               of               critsism               about               his               public               outbursts               but               it               is               what               makes               him               one               of               the               most               fun               to               watch.
               Over               the               years               Matusow               honed               his               skills               and               started               playing               high               stakes               games,               which               led               him               to               enter               the               World               Series               of               poker.

In               1998               he               paid               one               third               of               Scotty               Nguyen's               tournament               fee               into               a               satellite               event               for               the               $10,000               no-limit               Texas               Hold'em               main               event.

Nguyen               went               on               to               win               the               tournament               and               gave               Mike               the               $333,333               which               was               a               third               of               his               winnings               to               repay               him               for               fronting               Scotty               the               cash.
               It               wasn't               until               2001               that               Matusow               made               some               serious               noise               at               the               World               Series               of               Poker,               in               that               year               he               was               eliminated               in               6th               place.

In               2004               he               was               one               of               the               players               ESPN               choose               to               focus               their               coverage               on               because               of               his               verbal               attacks               on               the               eventual               winner               Greg               Raymer.

In               2005               WSOP               Matusow               finished               in               9th               place               with               a               field               that               consisted               of               5,619               players,               he               won't               a               million               dollars.

Shortly               after               that               he               won               the               WSOP               Tournament               of               Champions               in               a               heads-up               battle               with               Hoyt               Corkins,               winning               another               cool               million.

In               2006               he               finished               third               in               the               Tournament               of               Champions.
               He               has               won               two               WSOP               bracelets               on               in               1999               and               the               other               in               2002.

In               2004               he               finally               got               to               participate               in               his               first               WPT               final               table               at               the               UltimateBet               Aruba               Classic,               and               earned               $250,000               for               a               third               place               finish.

In               2006               he               was               part               of               the               WPT               Bad               Boys               of               Poker               II               and               lost               in               heads-up               play               to               Tony               G.

Another               notable               performance               was               in               the               Poker               Superstars               III,               where               he               made               the               final               table               and               beat               7               other               players               to               claim               the               $500,000               prize.

It               is               reported               that               as               of               2006               his               tournament               winnings               are               over               $4.1               million               dollars.
               All               of               this               winning               and               money               you               would               think               that               Mike               "The               Mouth"               wouldn't               have               any               problems               or               worries               in               the               world               but               the               bad               boy               has               had               some               serious               controversy               surrounding               him               since               he               has               gained               poker               star               status.

Matusow               has               had               some               problems               with               drug               abuse               in               his               past,               in               2000               he               started               to               use               ecstasy               and               later               went               on               to               cocaine.

He               eventually               started               to               use               speed               and               claims               this               helped               him               achieve               his               poker               abilities               and               enhance               his               play.

He               tried               to               quit               in               2003               but               wasn't               successful               and               would               eventually               be               arrested.

In               2002               Mike               was               partying               hard               at               a               VIP               booth               and               was               introduced               to               an               undercover               narcotics               agent               Mike               Fento.

Fento               got               Mike               involved               in               some               money               laundering               and               other               crimes               before               a               dealer               informed               Mike               his               friend               was               an               undercover               agent.

It               was               to               late               Matusow               was               arrested,               they               gave               him               an               ultimatum,               if               he               would               wear               a               wire               and               expose               some               information               on               a               night               club               owner               they               would               set               him               free.

Mike               refused               fearing               the               sting               could               lead               to               his               murder;               the               night               club               owner               was               supposedly               linked               to               organized               crime.
               "The               Mouth"               served               6               months               in               jail,               during               this               prison               time               he               would               lose               his               WPT               winnings               ($250,000)               on               sports               gambling.

Upon               his               release               Phil               Hellmuth               Jr.

loaned               Mike               $5,000               dollars               to               start               up               a               bank               roll               and               get               back               into               poker.

Mike               was               eventually               back               on               track               and               was               doing               well               in               the               2005               WSOP               when               he               became               depressed               and               suicidal,               his               psychiatrist               blamed               it               on               him               not               receiving               his               medication               while               in               prison.

Just               recently               it               has               been               rumored               that               Mike               Matusow               lost               over               2               million               dollars               on               online               poker.
               With               all               this               going               on               he               still               finds               a               way               to               be               a               good               poker               player               and               be               practically               one               of               the               best               Texas               Hold'em               no               limit               tournament               players               in               the               world.

This               guy               has               the               talent               and               when               he               gets               himself               together               he               is               going               to               make               even               more               noise               at               the               table.
